Breville Toaster Oven BOV650XL
Breville Toaster Oven 650
Sick of dry, tasteless chicken from the microwave? Sick of limp and soggy pizza? Tired of waiting forever for the big oven to heat up and turn your kitchen into a hot desert?
You are not the only one. I was getting sick of my microwave and tired of my big oven…and there are a lot of people that feel the same way.
What if there is an appliance that combines the best of both worlds? Well, the appliance has been around a long time, the toaster oven, but it’s never really been any good.
Things could change…with the Breville Toaster Oven BOV650XL (same as 650).
We will go through what the Breville Toaster Oven 650 has to offer, and how that will make your life easier.
Is The Breville Toaster Oven BOV650XL Really Worth It?
I’ll let you come to the conclusion after you’ve gone through this report. There are however a couple of things I want to point out.
Even though this toaster oven is more expensive than other models, it’s selling like crazy every where.
Usually when that’s the case, it’s because it lives up to the hype. It does what it’s suppose to do…extremely well.
Cheap things are cheap for a reason. A high quality product on the other hand, takes a lot of research, uses highest quality material, and has the smartest designs that makes it easy to use.
Both Consumer Reports and America’s Test Kitchen gave Breville the highest mark…why do you think that is?
What’s So Smart About It?
The Breville BOV650XL is also know as the Breville Compact Smart Oven. It has what’s called Element IQ. Basically, it does all the work of making your food taste fantastic.
You want to broil? Element IQ directs all the heat to the top heating rods. Bake? It puts more power to the bottom rods. Wanna toast? Both top and bottom gets same power.
Unlike other toaster ovens, with the heating rods either on or off, the Breville’s heating rods can be controlled independently at different temperatures.
You won’t get cold spot or over cooked on others. Everything is evenly browned.
It also remembers your preferred settings, so you don’t have to figure what temperature or how much time, every time you cook.
Is It Easy To Use?
You bet ya. I can’t remember how many times I’ve heard people say, I didn’t even have to read the manual (I highly recommend you do), and figured out how to work the toaster oven.
While other toaster ovens are stuck in the past, Breville is right and center as the leader of the pack.
Digital dual color LCD, clearly market buttons and nobs. You don’t have to deal with a million buttons or confusing dials.
Why Does It Cook Better?
There are a few reasons for that. First of all, it as 1800 watt of power. It is the highest I’ve seen in a home use toaster oven.
Second, it uses quartz in the heating rods. It’s a better material than rods used in other toaster ovens (more on that later)
Third, it has better technology to send the power to the right place. Element IQ makes sure the Breville Toaster Oven BOV650XL is always at the optimal setting.
Is This The Right Choice…
According to hundreds of experts and tens of thousands of customers, it certainly seem so.
While other companies stayed in the 70s as far as toaster oven technology goes, Breville decided to make some changes for the better.
Better construction, better material, better technology all add up to a much better product.
This is not your grandma’s toaster oven, it will do just about everything a big oven do.
Pricing and Buying Info…
From the lowest of around $180 and free shipping, to high of $220+ and $20 delivery charge.
I’d recommend both Amazon and Zappos. Free shipping, great customer service and no sales tax in most States make them two of the best places to shop..
The sale could have ended already, make sure you check the pricing info first.
But What About Convection…
Sometimes it’s great to have convection feature, but sometimes you don’t need it. It’s like buying a heavy duty V8 truck to tow a kids bicycle.
In a high quality compact oven like this, the powerful 1800 watt oven with its high quality heating material and smart cooking technology, will make up for the lack of convection. Also, convection adds to the cost.
Compare To A Large Oven…
It is better because it is MUCH faster, uses much less energy (aka money), and won’t heat up your whole kitchen into a sauna.
Why preheat that giant thing when you just want to make one medium pizza? Unless you are hosting a 15 people dinner everyday, you’ll use the Breville Toaster Oven 650 much more often.
Compare To A Microwave…
It is better in just about every single way. Aside from heating up your left over coffee, there is no comparison.
Food tastes much better because it’s just like if you cooked it in a regular oven.
Your dog probably won’t even eat microwaved chicken!
Why Use Quartz?
The heating element of the Breville BOV650XL Toaster Oven is made out of quartz. It’s a better material, compare to cheaper nickel, because it heats up faster, it changes temperature faster, and maintains heat better.
Basically, it just means you will get even and consistent heat while the oven is cooking.
Size Of The Toaster Oven
The exterior of the Breville Toaster Oven 650 is 16.5″ by 14.25″ by 10″.
The interior of the oven can fit 4 slices of toasts, one 12 in pizza. The dimension is 0.6 cu ft.
It comes with a 10″ enamel baking pan, and a 10″ enamel roasting rack.
It comes with a full year warranty.
What Are People Saying About It?
You get what you pay for!, October 14, 2010 By Tofu (Aomori, Japan)
I researched toaster ovens for months before finally deciding to bite the bullet and cough up for this model…It hurt to part with so much money, but I am glad I did…I’ve used this oven to bake, broil, toast, and cook, all for much less time and less energy…couldn’t be more pleased.
Really nice toaster oven, June 23, 2010 By B. Webster (Eastern Shore of Maryland)
I have now used every function on this oven and all functions work great…I was able to reheat a turkey tenderloin and kielbasa and it tasted like it was just roasted…This is such a simple oven to use and absolutely keeps my kitchen cooler in the summer than turning on my big oven to reheat, bake or broil.
Great design. Great toaster., February 8, 2012 By DC Person
The design is just excellent – it’s really refreshing to find a consumer product that’s been thought through so well – it gave me the same satisfied feeling I had when I got an Apple computer – really straightforward and easy to use while also good looking. I love that the display screen and the numbers on it are large and simple to read. I’ve been so happy with mine I bought one for my parents (who had insisted that their cheapie was fine despite their frequently expressed hope for its passing) and they are now sold on it too.
What Are People Complaining About?
There aren’t any real complaints. But I have read a few comments that I want to clear up.
1.) Not every toaster oven needs convection. Convection adds to cost , and high quality compact toaster oven like this one in particular, doesn’t need convection because of it’s superior material and technology.
2.) It’s a powerful toaster oven, it’s supposed to get a little hot. You can in fact use the top as a plate warmer.
3.) Power cord is 3 feet long. If you don’t have an outlet near by, use an extension cord. Problem solved.
Who Should Buy This Toaster Oven?
People from all walks of life love the Breville Toaster Oven 650. Whether it’s a single guy living in a studio apartment, or a mother of 4 who cooks everyday, it’s for everyone.
It’s so compact, so fast, and so easy, the possibilities are endless.
The Final Word
When both Consumer Reports and America’s Test Kitchen both declare the Breville Toaster Oven as the BEST in the business, it says a lot about how much effort Breville put into their products.
No, this is not the cheapest toaster oven, but if cheap is what you wanted, I don’t think you would have research this particular model.
Just as people who want cheap phone, won’t look into iPhones. They line up for days because it’s worth it.
The Breville Toaster Oven BOV650XL is the best.
Where Should I Buy?
As we mentioned earlier, the retail price of this toaster oven is $230. However, I have see it on sale from as low as $180 with free shipping to over $219 with $20 shipping cost.
Zappos’ shipping is free both ways, their return period is 365 days compare to 30 days, and Zappos customer service is nationally recognized as the best in the industry.
Amazon is the industry leader in online shopping. Their prices are usually the best around and the selection is incredible. Super fast shipping too.
The sale could end at any time, make sure you check the latest discount here.
